Lindsay's Medical Bills and Living Expenses

Hi, my name is Michelle and I've started this campaign to help my younger sister Lindsay and her family with medical bills and medical necessities related to recent surgeries plus 2 future brain surgeries.

Late spring of this year, Lindsay had a neck MRI done due to pain. That MRI showed nodules on her thyroid, a Chiari 1 malformation and a cyst in her brain. With more scans and biopsies we learned that Lindsay had 15 nodules on her thyroid, some which were cancerous and what was thought to be a cyst in her brain is actually a tumor. On August 11th, Lindsay underwent a thyroidectomy. During that surgery, there was a rare complication, in which a nerve to her left vocal cord was clipped, leaving it paralyzed. The right cord didn't want to be left out and decided to not work either. This left Lindsay unable to breathe on her own. She was sedated overnight and then underwent a second surgery on the 12th to place a trach. Her doctors are hopeful the cords will heal in a few months and the trach will be removed. This unexpected complication, comes with increased bills, the need for medical equipment/supplies, and lifestyle changes that affect the whole family. The complication may also delay her 2 brain surgeries into next year causing them to have to reach their deductible and out of pocket expenses again before insurance really helps.
