Lindsay Garcia Recovery Domestic Violence Survivor

As many of you know, my sister Lindsay Garcia was a victim of a shooting yesterday. She was attempting to escape her abusive husband. She had sought help from First Step and filed for a protective order against him for herself and her child.

Tragically, when Lindsay and our mom went to gather items essential for her escape, her husband was waiting to attack them. Based on her injuries, he attempted to shoot her point blank in the face. Lindsay’s quick reactions saved her life as she put her arms up to protect herself from the attack.

My sister’s injuries are extensive. She has gunshot wounds to her arm, hands, and mouth. After her first surgery, she is still unable to move her arms or hands. She was care flighted to the metroplex to see a specialist due to the extensive injuries to her hands. She will also require facial reconstruction due her front teeth being knocked out from the bullet her husband intended to end her life. She faces a long journey towards recovery.
