I'm setting up this go fund me page for my beautiful sister and her family, who lost everything when the Camp Fire swept through the town of Paradise in Butte County, California a couple of weeks ago.
My sister Moita, her husband Erik thankfully all made it out safely with their 3 teenage kids, Erik's gorgeous mum Judi and their dog. However, like many other families in the region, they are currently homeless and relying on the generosity of friends to have a roof over their heads. Losing their family home and possessions was one thing, but as so much of the town was destroyed, they still haven't been able to return to it, let alone go back to work to keep funds coming in to sustain themselves.
Moita worked part time as a nurse at the local hospital and also ran a successful photography business part time. My sister's photography studio also burned to the ground, and taking 'on location' photos is out of the question, that income stream has also stopped - and Christmas is usually one of the busiest times of the year.
Erik also worked in health care at the local hospital, and this has been a doubly hard time for him and the family, after only recently losing his father.
If any beautifully generous, caring friends - or strangers - want to help Moita, Erik and the family to get back on their feet during this period of heartache and uncertainty for them, it would be so very very much appreciated!
In the absence of being there in person to help my sister (as we live in Australia) - this is the next best thing I can do.
Love
Cathy
