This campaign is to help Linda Williams. Below is a note from Linda:
I recently learned that a mortgage company that I have had little contact with and who bought my mortgage from Nantucket Bank after 40 years with that bank, is foreclosing on my home. I am very uncomfortable putting this out there as despite how public my community life is, I keep my private life private. This is way outside my comfort zone as I rarely if ever ask for help. That is not who I am. I spend a majority of my time volunteering, in community service and helping others with whatever I can, and giving back to the community as my grandparents taught me to do, at no charge. I have never been behind in my mortgage up until last year and without a steady income this happened.
Due to the previous economic downturn, my age, and my specific skill set it has been hard to find another job. I have been told I am way overqualified, too old, or too politically active, no surprise there! I kept thinking that at some point I would get a great job.
Many people have expressed an interest in helping me and suggested that I do this Go Fund Me effort. I could have done that months ago when first suggested to me but I was uncomfortable with reaching out, but now things are at a critical stage and losing my family home is staring me in the face.
I have raised three of my own kids in this house which we built in 1983. It has been a house where all of their friends used to run in and of. I have mentored a number of kids over the years, coaching, college help and just being supportive. One young lady has been a pseudo daughter for over 20 years and she uses this as home. A family member has lived with me on and off for the past 30 years as he had nowhere to go. Five foster kids have called this house home, with three that will be my sons forever. In fact, one has recently moved back home, one is in college and one is taking college courses on line and is living on his own. My youngest biological son is also still at home after graduating from high school in June. However, all of them know that they can always come home and I will always be here to help them.
I have turned over management of the site to Diane Holdgate so I no longer have access to who has donated. So I thank all of you now for any help you can give since I cannot thank you individually from the site. I will continue to serve you all and the community I have been a part of for almost 43 years year-round and 18 summers before that.
