This message and fund raising is created by Carey School parents and is intended to celebrate teacher Linda Underwood and raise a “Thank You” fund for her, as she will be leaving our community at the end of this school year.

Music is the heart of education, this universal language helps us all in life once we know how to appreciate and use it. Growing up in a musically rich environment has also been proven advantageous for children’s language development. These are just few reasons why music teachers are so important.
Ms. Linda is one of these treasured music teachers who lives and breathes music. She believes in music education and has committed to teaching our children this art in the best possible way. Her passion is beautiful and inspiring. Outside of the classroom she has continuously supported her current and alumni students in their extracurricular performing arts endeavors and uses her weekend hours to see these students’ performances at her own expense. She has brought enrichment programs to Carey i.e. the annual ballet and symphony trips as well as in school events like Opera ala Carte, Poetry Alive and The Theater of All Possibilities.
Out of 41 years teaching, Ms. Linda spent the last 21 at the Carey School making sure our children experience the magic of music. Each year, she single handedly wrote and orchestrated the annual operettas’, each being unique and original and written from the heart always with our children in mind.
For anyone who has had the pleasure to know or work with Linda, this fund is intended to give us the opportunity to provide her with a grand send off and to show our appreciation. Nothing is too big or too small. We hope to fund raise as much as possible to say the biggest thank you to Linda for caring about our kids for so many years, for all her selfless efforts and for bringing the joy of music into our lives and our hearts. She truly instills the love of music into our children.
