Family of Linda Ta
Hi friends and family,
We are fundraising to help our family cover the hospital and physical therapy expenses for our mom, Linda Ta, who recently suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. She is a loving mother to 3 kids, caring wife, sister and cousin. Our mom has always put everyone’s happiness before her own. She gives so selflessly without any hesitation. When people learned what happened, they were heartbroken. Everyone says they think of our mom as a sister and wanted to know how they can help. Due to the stroke, she has experienced paralysis in the left side of her body. This leaves her unable to work until she gains the function and strength back (which could take months to over a year) with the help of physical therapy.
On April 23rd, the night after her 41st birthday, we were out of town to attend the funeral of a loved family member. While driving, our mom began to have slurred speech, numbness in the left side of her face and body. We initially thought she was experiencing an allergic reaction. After paramedics arrived, she was taken to the ER where they immediately took her for a CT scan. They found bleeding in the the right side of her brain caused by high blood pressure, most likely due to stress. The brain bleed was in a location unable to be surgically stopped. She was admitted to the ICU, where they stopped the bleeding by controlling her blood pressure. After 11 days in the ICU, she was finally stable enough to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility. While here, she has been working to relearn basic movements to help with everyday tasks.
Currently her short term memory is great, speech has improved, and she’s able to make very small movements in the left side of her body. Through it all, her sense of humor has remained and she’s still worrying about everyone else! We are finally bringing our mom home May 17th! While we are so relieved and thankful just to have her back in the comfort of our home, it won’t be easy adjusting. She will still need accessible equipment around the house as she can’t get up on her own quite yet. She will still continue physical therapy multiple times a week.
Thank you so much to our friends and family who have been the most amazing support system during this time. Especially our aunt and uncles, who have so kindly offered their homes to us, kept us well fed, and taken so much time out of their already long days to keep our mom company. While our dad has been traveling back and forth to work and visit my mom, it makes it easier knowing she’s in the best hands. Thank you to our family in Richmond who have helped take care of our business, grandparents and little sister. We are truly overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received and cannot thank you all enough.
We are humbly creating this fundraiser intending to better our given circumstances. You can also venmo @hmoeun if you prefer! All donations will go towards the costs of PT and supporting our parent’s business as she is unable to work. My family and I are blessed to have such a strong support system with so much love and prayer given. Any donations made are greatly appreciated!
