Lindas Metastatic Breast Cancer VW Bug Donation

Donation protected
Donations are going to a car that will be built and donated to Metavivor. They are a great non-profit organization.

Linda Kreizenbeck passed away April 24th, 2020 due to complications from Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Linda was a great wife, mom, and person with a keen dry wit and the passion to cook food for anyone who would want a meal. Linda loved her entire family probably a bit more than she loved listening to, and attending jazz concerts, although that is up for debate. Haha. She really enjoyed listening to jazz while working outside in her flower garden and would often travel with her Husband Mack to many locations throughout the United States in search of good food and music.

My mom was my biggest fan and would make sure she could be a part of all my hobbies not only when I was being raised but also as an adult. She knew part of my therapy was working on old, tired, neglected Volkswagens. She always was able to donate some money for parts in an effort to help me get the cars back on the road. I believe my mom helped her kids until the last day more than we could have ever helped her throughout her life. She always did the little things for us and that is always what helped the most. This is a little thing I would like to do for her.

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for Metastatic Breast Cancer which is underfunded, and not known about by enough people I am putting my therapy to work.

With donated funds I will be purchasing and rejuvenating/restoring an old Volkswagen Beetle in Linda's name. Not only as a special way to remember her but as a way she can help educate others on MBC. Once the car is complete I am partnering with Metavivor (www.metavivor.org) where they will auction the Beetle off as a neat way to raise needed funds that they use for MBC research and patient support. MBC in total only received 2-5% of breast cancer research funds. One of Metavivor's goals is to fund research that will make MBC a manageable disease instead of a usually short death sentence as prognosis is usually less than 24 months; it was 11 months in my Mom's case. 100% of funds raised will go directly into the beetle, I am not taking money for my time which will be countless therapeutic hours for me. Beetles usually need new paint, brake systems, interior and some engine work and a good deep clean. I plan on doing this all myself and with some close friends who all have restored VW's. Below you will see 2 of Linda's five grandchildren and my wife her daughter in law-Megan. The car is in fact a 1972 VW Bug that was purchased when I was 14 or 15 years old and completed a restoration on about 4 years ago.

I bet you are saying I could raise just as much or possibly more without the beetle. Well, you might be correct but what fun is that? Linda would always try to do things interesting ways and this is something that I want to do for her to help bring awareness that even 26 years after breast cancer treatment it can come back with vengeance.

I am hoping to have funds in place by May 22nd so I can find a solid car to start with. Project completion and auction date would be in the fall of 2020.

Thank you all so much!
