Linda’s Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shannon and I am the daughter of Linda. Here we are, five years after losing my late husband Joe to Brain Cancer, my mom is now fighting her own cancer battle. Never did we think we’d be traveling this journey once, let alone twice. My mom has always put everyone else first and now it is time for us to help her in her time of need.
Last fall, Linda felt a lump in her left armpit. She had already had a mastectomy in her late twenties due to fibrocystic breasts, so this lump wasn’t too concerning. However, she noticed that every time she would get sick, the lump would be tender. She continued to do self exams and monitor the lump until she was encouraged to have a Dr. take a look. After many imaging appointments and a biopsy, it was confirmed she did in fact have breast cancer with multiple lymph node involvement. She has since undergone 20 weeks of chemo, a second mastectomy to remove the mass, implants and lymph nodes. Last week, she began her 6.5 weeks of radiation-which she travels over an hour each day. Her last biopsy showed the cells were still 50% active and her oncology team has suggested she continue with two years of daily chemo treatment. Linda currently has insurance, however her out of pocket cost each month for this new chemo is more than her current income.
Any money donated will be put toward gas for daily radiation visits and her out of pocket expenses for chemo. While donations are greatly appreciated, a well wish, prayer or a simple text letting Linda know you are thinking of her would brighten her day. Thank you for taking time to read her story.
