Linda's Lift

Linda and Dean are our incredibly sweet neighbors. Linda has Multiple Sclerosis and is no longer able to walk.
Dean, her dedicated husband, with the assistance of a daily Medicare-funded caretaker have to move her from her bed, to a chair, to the commode several times a day. It takes two people to move her, as she is unable to support any of her weight. When the caretaker is unable to help or ill, Dean has to ask friends to help. This process is difficult and stressful for all involved, as well as not very comfortable for Linda. It is also getting to be more dangerous for Dean as he gets older.
Our idea is to help them out this holiday season, but raising money so that they can purchase a hydraulic lift system that will allow Linda to be safely transferred during her limited daily activities. This will not only be safer for the people moving her, but also much more comfortable for Linda.
The cost of all of Linda's healthcare and the upgrades to their house to make it wheelchair accessible, hasn't left them with spare income. Unfortunately, Medicare will only help them with a lift that is too large for their house, so they've been struggling through.
Dean's the type of neighbor who is always ready to help. Giving expert advice and help with home projects, bringing tools over that you can borrow, making sure Toby gets played with or walked when needed. He's just the best and we'd love to make things easier for him and Linda. They don't have kids are are far away from remaining family members.
If any funds are left after the lift, it'll go to replacing or upgrading other medical items that are needed. Thank you all so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness! It'll mean the world to them.
