My name is Becky. Over four years ago, I quit my job to care for my mother. Because she didn't qualify for medicaid, she wasn't elgible to recieve a paid caregiver. She was born a sickly child, enduring radiation treatments to her tonsils at three years of age, which later destroyed her parathyroid; She was also born with a bleeding disorder which didn't allow her blood to clot. From the time she was eleven, she was recieving blood transfusions on and off for the rest of her life, which resulted in her contracting Hepatitus-C. She had suffered multiple strokes and couldn't take care of herself. Since then, I had been taking care of her medical and daily life needs, ranging from cooking, cleaning, taking her to doctor's appointments, and administering medical treatments as her condition worsened. Near the end, she was suffering from near complete motor loss, requiring the help of other family members, including my son, to help with other phsyical tasks I didn't have the strength to do. Because of all of these medical issues, she was unable to be granted life insurance for funeral expenses, and we have been left to deal with this obstacle. Linda was one of the most caring people the world has ever known, and helped whomever, whenever she could. From years of volunteering with CASA, Helping spearhead the first Head Start program in the US, and even taking care of her own parents and husband as they grew ill. The world has seemingly gone a little bit darker and quieter with her gone, and I am only reqesting the absolute minimum of what's required to to inter her. The expenses stated are only for her to be buried, as she didn't want to be embalmed, and without any source of income, aside from my son, it's seeming near impossible.
