Linda Paúla Marcos is a singer-songwriter of Peruvian/Guatemalan descent, born and raised in New York City. Her debut album, Humané, ties in themes of love, liberation, land reverence and lamentation, anger, generational trauma/wisdom with the message of resistance through it all.

Her nine-track album features one cover and eight original compositions, all of which are carried by traditional instrumentation honoring her Latin American roots, consisting of Afro-Peruvian rhythms played by longtime revered percussionist Huevito Lobaton and string arrangements/guitar in the vein of música criolla by Alonso Salas. Humané combines a medley of folkloric inspirations throughout the South American region married with experimental compositions written by Marcos, initiating and establishing their contemporary relevance.

Humané is meant to interrogate us as witnesses, ask us what it means to embody a humane state in such destructive times, which in some way, many of us contribute to with or without consent.

Humané is meant to describe a verb with urgency, a non-binary state of being - energy I hope we all recognize within ourselves and collectively.

Create an album that is unique to the Latin American experimental folk community
Travel to Peru to finalize the arrangements, percussion and strings on each track
Record live - in studio - on analogue
Employ and create with a 5 piece band
Create original artwork for the album
Press the vinyl and release before the end of 2025

Depending on how much of the goal is met will indicate where we record. The goal set is to reach our ideal format, dream studio and release date goal. Time and travel takes into consideration the potential travels costs for some involved and the cost of taking time off of my job to create this work. Musician cost reflect the combined rates of a 5 piece band, percussion composition and arrangements.
