Linda Beat Cancer but Might Lose Her Home!

Linda was ecstatic to celebrate her last day of chemo, which we pray has put an end to her Stage 3 Fallopian Tube Cancer! However, while her battle with cancer and chemo is behind her, Linda's fight is not over! She now has to fight to get her home of the last 19-years out of foreclosure!

Linda is a hard worker with a vibrant spirit and heart of gold. She left Chicago in 1986, settling in Ft. Lauderdale to start a new life for her and her two children. The first job she landed was a server at the Floridian Restaurant on Las Olas Blvd., and she never left. For the past 34-years, she has worked hard to make a life for her and her family. Through her positive outlook of life and infectious spirit, Linda has made many friends from far and near.  She is a great mom, a dedicated worker, loyal friend, and would do anything for anyone in need!

Celebrating Linda, a couple of months of chemo down!

In 2007 Linda was behind two months on her mortgage and saw an ad on TV that look to be a solution! It was a lending firm that would help her keep her property! They took over the mortgage payments with the promise that Linda could take the mortgage back in 15-months. However, unbeknownst to Linda, the firm was a scam operation. They inflated the mortgage by more than $200k! The housing crisis of 2008 began, and without notice, the lender disappeared! Ushering in more than a decade of back and forth with lawyers, banks, eviction notices, etc...

In September 2019, through mediation, the property was finally put back in Linda's name! One month later, following what was a standard preventive OB/GYN exam, Linda learned she needed a hysterectomy. In November, she sailed through the surgery with her indomitable spirit only to discover within weeks that there was a need for a second exploratory surgery due to an image found on a follow-up PET Scan. Surgery number two reveals the presence of Stage 3 Fallopian Tube Cancer, opening the door to 6-months of chemo! Linda toughed it out, only taking off a few days after each treatment when the side effects kicked in! Luckily, Linda was wise enough to purchase health care coverage, which paid her mounting health care and chemo bills.
Linda, May 2020 - 5-months into Chemo

Usher in CoVID-19 during Linda's 5th month of chemo, and her position at the Floridian was furloughed. Fortunately, the push from the bank to settle the mortgage situation was paused as well, which brings us to today. As we all begin to return to work, which Linda has, the bank is demanding a settlement of the foreclosure. To get back on the right track, Linda needs to come up with the $50,000 downpayment to take over the mortgage once again. Releasing the property from foreclosure will enable Linda to be once again the rightful owner of her little piece of paradise that she worked so hard for!
