Lincoln’s Recovery
Lincoln isn’t just a part of our family, he is our family. Our fierce protector, always at my side. He is the best of boys, trained to fetch my inhaler during an asthma attack. I just never thought I was going to be the one to save his life.
On June 1, we were out for our morning walk in the neighborhood. We were turning the corner only a few streets from home when another dog came out of nowhere and lunged for me. Lincoln will protect me from anything, even a larger dog. He tried so hard, but he was no match.
His face was torn to shreds. Thank god for his military tactical grade collar because it probably saved his life as the other dog was unable to reach his throat.
It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I thought my dog and I were about to me mauled to death. After what seemed like forever, I managed to tackle the attacking dog down to the ground and my husband showed up to save the day and get Lincoln to safety.
We both spent the day in the ER. I needed stitches in my hand, but it’s nothing compared to the extensive work Lincoln needed. He currently has 2 drains in his face to aid in recovery, so many stitches I can’t even count, and his eye is swollen shut.
He has a long road of recovery ahead, but he is tough and I know he will be okay. His tail is wagging and he is still barking at cars as they pass (:
If you know our family personally, you also know Lincoln. You know what a silly loveable goof he is. What a great listener and good boy he is. It absolutely breaks my heart to see him like this, but I am so thankful I was able to save his life.
If there’s is anything you can do to help, it’s much appreciated. Prayers and good vibes are cherished as well ❤️ He loves stuffed toys and and treats of all kinds.
