Lincoln Square Liquors in Oakland Ransacked
Donation protected
Dear All,
I am writing this on behalf of my In-Laws, the Owners of Lincoln Square Liquors located in Oakland. On the early morning of Saturday August 5th, at approx. 4am, burglars broke into our business the Lincoln Square Liquors, walking away with our safe containing money, cigarettes, liquor, and other merchandise. The total damages and loss exceeds $80,000, which include repairing much of our store, windows, and security gate. The brazen criminals used a chain on a truck to pull out the security gates and smashed most of our store windows. Surveillance footage showed them walking around carefree as if they were not in a hurry, and eventually all 7 of them got away with multiple cartfuls of property.
As a family owned business, we are devastated and although have already endured several robberies, we have never experienced anything of this magnitude. On top of this, our Landlord whose brought in franchise Tenants in our plaza has tripled our rent over the past few years, and is increasing our rent again next month on September 2023 even though they know we are barely making ends meet. The criminals who burglarized and vandalized our store have still not yet been caught.
The burglary is a tipping point for us and frankly we want to walk away from the business, but we need to keep working to feed our families.
We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from the community, our customers, news outlets, and City Council Member Janani Ramachandran, who’ve all suggested we start a GoFundMe to try to recoup our losses. The money will go towards keeping the business afloat, repairs, and everyone employed.
We are all extremely touched and encouraged by everyone's kindness and support, and for everyone we are extending our humble gratitude.
Thank you.
