Help Lin Lao shi’s daughter fight brain cancer

Qing Ying Lin (Lin Lao Shi) is a beloved teacher at Little Footprints Preschool (LFP) in the Sunset District and has had such a positive impact within the LFP community. Sadly, this past December, her youngest daughter Kathryn was diagnosed with brain cancer. Kathryn is currently undergoing intensive treatment with chemotherapy and radiation at UCSF after undergoing surgery and a prolonged hospital stay. Despite having to take a leave of absence from teaching, Qing Ying/Lin Lao Shi continues to show her love and support for our kids at LFP events with a positive attitude. We admire her steadfast dedication despite having to juggle multiple hats at home (mother, wife, caregiver to her sick child, etc). This GoFundMe was created by LFP parents to help support Qing Ying/Lin Lao Shi and her family during this challenging time.

There are 7 in our family, my husband and I and our 5 children. Song our 20-year-old son is a junior in college; Andrew our 17-year-old son is a junior in high school; Rachel our 12-year-old daughter is a 7th grader; Elizabeth our 11-year-old daughter is a 6th grader; Kathryn our 9-year-old daughter (who was diagnosed with brain tumor) is a 4th grader. Kathryn has started feeling sick since 12/05/2022. She had been having a headache and feeling nauseous. We took her to ER on 12/07/2022, they said she was just having some kind of virus. She wasn't feeling any better, we took her to a different ER on 12/12/2022, they said she was having vertigo. On 12/13/2022, I came home from work, my husband told me that she has been sleeping all day without eating or using the bathroom. We woke her up, try to get her to eat or drink anything. She told us she couldn't feel her left arm. We called 911, and went to the ER. They did CT and found out she has a tumor on the back of her brain. They brought us to Stanford Children's Hospital because all UCSF were full. She had surgery and we stayed at PICU for 10 days. She has started her treatments at UCSF since January. The oncology doctor told us that Kathryn needs 6 weeks of radiation therapy (M-F) and chemotherapy, all together will be 1 year.
