Save Limors Legs - Medical Fund

My beloved sister, Limor, needs our help for the first time. Limor was a victim of a Jihadist suicide terror attack 14 years ago which almost took her life.

She spent weeks in the ICU fighting for her life and her legs. Limor sustained multiple injuries to both lower limbs, including open comminuted supracondylar fracture of right femur, open fracture of right tibia, fibula with traumatic loss of distal half of the tibial bone, open fracture-dislocation of right foot with loss of calceneal bone, loss of skin, loss of tissue, nerve damage - the list goes on and on.

With our parents persistance, and inability to accept multiple doctors' recommendations to amputate both legs, one doctor heard my parents cries and demands for help. He took on the near impossible task of saving her legs from amputation.

Limor went through countless surgeries and painful treatments to stretch and connect her bones together again. Skin grafts to cover areas of missing skin and other treatments. All expenses were covered by the Israeli health care system and she was provided with the best care.

Doctors, however, told us that she would never walk again. Given that Limor had already beaten all odds once, she decided she would make it a mission to gain the strength and walk - even with a limp. Two years later she got up off the wheelchair, took her first painful steps and never looked back at the wheelchair ever again.

Today, nearly 14 years later, Limor is married to a wonderful loving husband. She is walking, laughing and enjoying her life with her two young children. As doctors predicted, Limor's condition would get worse over the years. She has pain in her feet, legs, hips and back. Her doctors don't have any conclusive treatment options except surgeries with less than a 20% success rate that will put her in a wheelchair for another year. They have even mentioned amputation many times over the years.

Recently, we came across a company called Hanger Clinic Specialty Center headed by Ryan Blanck. He has developed a special prosthetic called the ExoSym™ Kinetic Orthosis - a medical device that restores function and independence for people with lower limb injuries. Limor has been evaluated by Ryans team and is an eligible candidate for the ExoSym™.

Only one major speed bump - the health insurance in Israel will not cover the funding needed for this prosthetic because it is administered in the U.S. by a U.S. company.

So here we are, for the first time ever, in need of financial help. We need to raise the funds to pay for the two prosthetics, including airfare and over a month stay in the U.S. Furthermore, we need funding for future maintenance and treatment while back in Israel after the prosthetics are in place. The family asks for your prayers and, if you are able, a small financial donation to help with medical expenses and everyday living expenses.

We are turning to our friends, friends of friends and anyone reading this that can help. By hitting our goal, Limor will be able to walk much more comfortably, put less pressure on her bones and possibly give her the ability to run or jog as we have seen happen to other people.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts in helping Limor on her road to recovery!
