My name is Limna. I created this fundraiser to further my education and become an actuary. Math is my favorite subject because you use formulas to find the answers, and it's a part of everything around us. With actuarial skills, I'll be able to help my family with money and guide others while pursuing a career in a subject I love. I'm going to Western New England University in Springfield, MA. It is one of the few colleges that offers a major in actuarial science. I received a $34,000 annual scholarship, but I still need more. The money will be used for tuition, room and board, fees, and textbooks. I was the valedictorian of my class, and I will be the first in my family to go to college. As a woman of color, I will be able to serve as a role model to my siblings and other young women who want to go into a field in STEM. I will help others see that it's possible to have an education despite disadvantages such as a lack of money and being a minority.
