Hello, my niece Lily (7 months) had open heart surgery at 6 months old to repair a VSD (ventrical septal defect). She was born with this and lived with it until surgery. Thankfully it was caught early and she had an amazing team of medical staff from her pediatrician to her surgery team.

As with anything medical, this came with a heavy financial burden on the family between medical bills, and taking time off work to care for her. She is a little fighter and has continued to grow and amaze us with how much she has developed.

As a result of VSD she has not met physical milestones and will need a helmet to correct deformational plagiocephaly from not being able to roll, correctly lay on her tummy, or from her head always tipping to one side.

As a result of this she will also start physical therapy in home to help her hit developmental milestones that she has missed.
