Lily came to us when her owners were no longer able to care for her. Fresh into her foster care we noticed a swelling in her throat. We got her in for assessment and the vet drained her right away. As directed by the vet we monitored her for a return of the swelling-and sure enough it returned.
Lily needed salivary gland removal surgery: a delicate and complex surgery that requires a skilled surgeon and careful protection of nearby nerves and vessels.
Without this surgery, she would live in pain and discomfort and suffer infection, with her salivary gland leaking internally; this causes intense inflammation and cysts. It had already clearly affected her ability to eat and swallow, and generally caused her pain. We had to fix little Lily!
The surgery went beautifully. Lily is in a loving and supportive foster to adopt home. Her life after she heals is gravy, baby ;)
For our fledgling Farm Sanctuary this was a high expense that we were not expecting. Please support us by donating to Lily’s medical expenses and help us continue to provide essential care to the animals in crisis we serve.
