Hi, I'm Liza Carr (previously Liza Helitzer), and I'm here to humbly ask for help in supporting this beautiful girl's future as she recently lost her mama, Rachel, to a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer on July 3, 2022.

I met Rachel when she joined Tridelta at UCLA back in the late 1990's. We immediately became sisters, incredible lifelong friends, and maintained our strong bond since our days as proud Bruins. She was the most selfless, compassionate, feisty, hilarious, and kind hearted woman I've been lucky to call a friend/sister. She was always there not only for me, but COUNTLESS other friends and family members throughout her life when they really needed support, understanding, validation, or just someone to hear them out.

Her journey to become a mama was not an easy one, but it was all she ever wanted to do. I remember holding Lily in the hospital, only a few days old, and knowing that this little baby girl would always be like a daughter to me.

When Lily was 2, Rachel was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer. She underwent all of the treatments, chemo, and even experimental trial drugs, like a CHAMP, and continued to fight so hard to stay with Lily as long as she could. She was given an estimate of about 6 months to a year at maximum, and she pushed hard for the next more than seven years to show Lily what her mama was all about.

Please join me in supporting this amazing, bright, ambitious, smart, and kind-hearted little girl by ensuring that she will be able to go to college one day. Anything you can afford to donate will make a difference and show her how much her mama's community loves her and will continue to look out for her in life. The money donated here will be directly deposited into an educational trust account set up by Rachel’s sister (Lark Miller).
