Lily’s Education Abroad
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Lily Brown. In Spring 2024, I will be studying abroad at the University of Maynooth in Ireland. I’ll be attending for an entire semester, roughly four months. I am a recent CFCC graduate, and am currently studying history at UNCW. I am able to attend/afford college thanks to a pell grant I receive each semester. My tuition at Maynooth is covered thanks to that same grant, but I am responsible for a number of other fees coming out of my own pocket. I’ve also applied to a multitude of scholarships in hopes of funding this trip.
By donating, you would be supporting a first generation college student with these study abroad expenses (these prices were provided to me by UNCW):
housing costs (estimated 2,500~)
food expenses (750~)
textbooks and school supplies (230~)
incidentals, public transportation, communication (1000~)
health insurance (180~)
airfaire (900~)
immigration costs (300~)
I currently work three jobs, and It’s definitely hard for me to ask for help. I will be unable to work while in Ireland because of my immigration status. For the first time in my college experience, I would like to be able to solely focus on my education and not have to worry about working two jobs daily to support myself! Traveling abroad is a once in a lifetime chance that I want to make the most out of.
Thank you for reading this, and thank you for donating whatever you can. Love y’all.
