Lily's Battling Cancer Again....
Donation protected
Let me tell you about my sister-in-law, Lily. She is the kindest, most generous soul you will ever meet. She is tough as nails and an animal lover
Her cancer journey began when she was just 16 years old. She received the news that she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. It is a form of blood cancer that is very rare. Lily has 7 other siblings, and none of them was a match when it was time for a bone marrow transplant to save her life. She fought for her life while her family rallied around her to give every ounce of support they could muster. Luckily Lily found her match through an anonymous donor. She received her transplant, and all was good for a little while. Then comes a certain part that not many people know about, see she now developed graft vs. host disease; that’s where your immune system is attacking itself, so your body is constantly fighting itself to live. It’s good because that means the transplant took, but bad because she is constantly fighting to stay alive. And in pain.
Lily had many years practically in remission. However, her bones were still deteriorating, she needed multiple hip surgeries just so she could walk, and she needed all new teeth to eat with. She has spent so much time in hospitals that it’s her second home.
Recently, we received a new diagnosis; cancer has crept its way into her life again. It is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer. It could have happened to any one of us, but it decided to strike Lily again. My emotions were all over the place when I heard the diagnosis; why her, why again.? She just can’t take anymore. So, I thought. If you have met Lily, she is a scrapper, a balls-to-the-wall fighter, only she is consistently fighting for her life.
On Sept. 12th, she will undergo a double mastectomy to save her life again. She is such a warrior; not even a shake in her voice. She's ready to do this and kick cancer's ass again!
After the surgery, there will be weeks of recovery and healing, a multitude of Dr. Appointments and then she starts Chemo all over again. Family members & friends will take turns flying ✈ to be at her side for dressing changes; port installs, chemo treatments, meals prep, driving to multiple appointments (over 1 hour away), fuel, medication, caring for & walking her loving sidekick Totson (her medically trained seizure therapy dog)
I asked if she would allow me to share her medical journey and ask for donations to help with her care. She has been through so much, and if we can ease the burden of recovery, even just a little. She is only 33 years old, and it just breaks my heart to know she has to go through this again.
Your donation will go directly to the care of Lilys medical needs.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
