Hello, My name is Kathleen 'Lily' Giles and I am fundraising for support for me and my son, Cas.

I was diagnosed with glioblastoma in May of 2023. I had a craniotomy to remove the tumor at the end of April and have gone through extensive physical and occupational therapy to learn how to walk again and function pretty much normally with some memory/concentration issues and minimal weakness on my left side.

I was receiving disability from my employer up until mid June. I submitted an application to the Social Security Administration to apply for disability and had no idea that i would be denied. Despite working and contributing to social security 20+ years of my adult life, because I worked for a state agency that did not contribute to social security five out of the last ten years of my employment, I am not eligible for SSDI. and just for SSI they are requesting receipts for what i spent the retirement I pulled out when quitting the state job in 2022 because I could no longer do overnite travel after my son's father moved out-of-state. I had to find a job with less hours, less pay but closer to home. I spent that money on bills and daily living so i dont have receipts.

The average glioblastoma survival time is 12-18 months – only 25% of patients survive more than one year, and only 5% of patients survive more than five years.

Praying i'm one of the 0.7 % that live longer.

I just want to spend what time I have left with my son in our home; not having to worry about paying my mortgage and bills..on top of medical bills that I can't even fathom right now and stage 4 brain cancer.
