Lily is a sprightly young 4-year-old Australian Shepard and my mom’s best friend.

Lily was recently diagnosed with a rare fast-growing tumor located on her right hind leg. The mass has been growing inward, applying pressure on Lily’s pelvis and other vital organs which could ultimately end her young life if we don’t act quickly. The best option we have is to amputate her leg, perform a pelvic and rectal decompression and follow that up with a series of radiation treatments to remove any remaining traces of the tumor to ensure that it doesn’t grow back.

Lily is otherwise a very healthy dog, extremely agile and full of life. If we do not move forward with this operation, she will live the remainder of a now-shortened life in pain. But because Lily is already so active and lean, she should have no issue bouncing back from a procedure like this. The veterinary staff is very optimistic.

In addition to the urgent and emotional decision to save Lily’s life, my mom is now burdened with over $9200 worth of vet bills. Our small family is doing our best to cover what we can but we could definitely use some help. We know it’s a difficult time to be asking for money but we’re hoping to raise $8000 to help cover the costs so that my mom isn’t left in a financial hole.

My mother, Tammy is one of the most selfless people I know. She’s kind, hardworking, and lives a very humble life. The last couple years have been a challenge for her having undergone a second knee surgery, coping with loss of a loved one, and leaving a bad relationship. After moving to a new city, life started to feel lighter for her again, until the pandemic hit. She’s a grocery store worker and has had to continue working through the last several months on the frontlines, risking her health and maintaining an income on reduced hours.

Lily is the light of her life and what makes coming home from a long day of work extra sweet. Lily is has been a constant source of joy for her through many hardships and she wants to do what she can to give Lily a fair chance at a full and happy life.
