Lily's Discospondylitis Treatment
Donation protected
Lily is a 7 year old beagle/husky/terrier mix that we rescued almost 2 years ago. She has been diagnosed with discospondylitis. it is an infection in her spine that causes pain, muscle weakness, and in extreme cases, paralysis. I have already paid $1007.83 in testing and it drained my savings. More testing is needed to try and find/treat where the infection started. Then the actual treatment, which is antibiotics for 6-8 weeks, then repeat xrays and a check to see if further treatment and tests are needed. The current estimate of what is needed right now is $1912.20. this includes the cost of the xray recheck in 6-8 weeks. We need a urine test to check for an underlying bladder/uti. A blood test. And we need to address her teeth. With this being an infection, it needs to be addressed as soon as possible, or the infection is only going to get worse. This is the reason for the gofundme. Waiting till I can build up my savings will only make it worse for Lily.
When I rescued her, her front teeth were grounded down to nubs from chewing on her hair from allergies and chewing the chain she had been on with her previous owner. The skin allergies have been addressed and her teeth have been half addressed. We did a dental this year and fixed her top teeth, but ran short on time. Ideally, her bottom teeth need a root canal, but that is at least $2000 by itself. Extraction is a lesser option, but more attainable financially.
I am attaching the emails from the vet, the invoices showing what I have already paid, and the estimate for what is needed now.
Thank you for reading this and considering helping me. I appreciate anything that you can do.
