Support Lily’s Fight Against a Brain Tumour

Hi everyone,

We are reaching out to ask for help with our beloved rescue dog, Lily. Recently, Lily was diagnosed with a brain tumour in her right frontal lobe, and we are fighting to give her the best possible chance at a happy and healthy life.

Just three days ago, Lily suffered a sudden seizure, which led us to rush her to the emergency vet. On the way, she experienced another seizure, and then again at the vet clinic. Blood tests were done, which came back clear, pointing to a neurological cause. From there, Lily was referred to the Dick White Referrals in Newmarket to see a specialist neurologist and undergo an MRI. This is when we received the devastating news: Lily has a brain tumor.

Lily spent three days in the hospital receiving critical care, medication, and monitoring. The neurologist has recommended radiation therapy as the best course of action, which could shrink the tumor and significantly improve her quality of life. We’re currently awaiting a consultation with an oncologist to discuss this treatment and find the best course of action for Lily.

Although we are doing everything we can for Lily, the cost of her care is quickly adding up. Her insurance only covers £1,000 per condition, and we have already used that towards her initial emergency treatment. Here’s a breakdown of the expenses so far:

Emergency vet visit: £683

MRI and three-day stay at Dick White Referrals: between £3,000–£4,000 (we’ve already paid a £1,000 deposit)

Radiation therapy, which is the next recommended step, is estimated to cost up to £6,000.

We’ve been able to bring Lily home for now, and she’s on palliative medication to reduce brain swelling and control her seizures while we prepare for the next stage of her treatment.
