Lilli’s Gender Affirming Surgery Recovery Fund

Hey y’all, this is Lilli! I’ve been in recovery from Guillain-Barré Syndrome for almost six months and was starting to get back on my feet (literally!) when I was informed that my Gender-Affirming Surgery is in a few weeks from now bc of a cancellation. With a looming nationwide gender-affirming care ban, I understand that this may be my only opportunity left to get the surgery, however I am at significant risk now of homelessness following the operation bc of my six month long disability recovery and not being able to save any money due to inflation and temporarily raised housing expenses.

I have a second revision surgery scheduled for October as well, and the recovery from both the first and second half of the operation is 3-4 months post op and my move out date at my house is at the end of December m, meaning that I’ll be really cutting it close if I even do manage to get through this year without losing housing.

I am asking for extended help with paying for housing as well as medical expenses related to recovery and supporting the community that’s chosen to support me. We are all poor and can’t really support ourselves at times, so it would be wrong to ask my friends to cover the costs out of their own pockets to make me meals or get me hygienic stuffs etc etc. The goal is set high on purpose and I in no way expect to actually raise that much, but I figured I’d leave room just in case.

I will need to hopefully raise around a thousand dollars in two weeks if I’m to have any semblance of a safety net once I wake up. That is a huge ask, I don’t expect my immediate community to be able to provide that support which is why I need help sharing this message with the world beyond my small and relatively poor community. The love y’all showed me in November when I lost my legs and my peripheral nerves was the most support I’ve ever received from anyone ever in my life, and I am still speechless and can’t possibly thank everyone who has helped out. Y’all saved my life then, and I’m forever grateful for that. I’m not out of the woods yet tho, so please help me spread the word!
