In Memory of Lillie Matta

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Lillie Matta. Lillie was resilient; she fought until the very end. We can still hear her sassy remarks about the hospital staff and terrible food. She was joyful, upbeat, and remained positive through it all. Lillie leaves behind her husband Davey Harold, two children Alexander Matta and Susan Taylor, and three grandchildren Brooklyn (10), Maeve (2), and Malex (1).

Born in Bronx, New York, Lillie’s Puerto Rican loudness could be heard from a mile away. She was quirky, wild, and a free spirit! Her big smile and fun nature lit up any room she entered. Lillie was most proud of her children Alex & Susan. The mother of a Firefighter in Salt Lake City, Utah and Teach for America high school math instructor in Miami, Florida; she poured her love, kindness, and strength into them.

As we navigate the pain of this loss, we are faced with the responsibility of honoring Lillie in a way that befits her extraordinary life. We have decided to organize a memorial service that will celebrate her life, allowing us to come together to share stories, offer comfort, and find solace in each other's company. The financial burden of arranging a memorial service is substantial. Our family comes to you during this difficult time to seek support in giving her the farewell she most certainly deserves. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help us create a fitting tribute to Lillie.

Our beloved Lillie Matta has departed from this world, leaving behind cherished memories and a void that can never be filled. Her laughter echoed through our homes and her legacy is etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
