My name is Melinda, I have set up this fundraiser for my Grand Daughter Lillian Allison, who was burnt in a freak accident on May 30, 2023.
Like any other day, Lillian had gone to her room to draw. Lilli had a candle on her dresser, next to the candle was a small lamp, an open bottle of rubbing alcohol and a Febreze spray bottle. Lilli's room had been closed all day. it had been pretty warm outside, so the room was very warm. When Lilli lit the lighter to lite her candle, The fumes from the alcohol bottle caught fire, then the bottle, causing the alcohol bottle to explode. Lilli was set fire, the fire then caused the very flammable febreze bottle to explode. Alora and Aidan (Lilli's older brother) rushed to Lilli's room to see her on fire. Alora was able to put out the fire on Lilli, while Aidan put out the fire on the curtains. This was a very traumatic event for all 3.
Lilli was taken to the wrong burn hospital in Pennsylvania and then transported to the correct hospital, 2 Ambulance rides later Lilli was admitted on that Tuesday and released with the hopes that she would not need to have surgery on THAT THURSDAY 6/1. A few days later Lilli was re-admitted where she has remained since this past Monday 6/5. The Doctors had originally told Alora the burns were just flash burns all the while Alora kept telling the Doctors that she had to put the fire out on Lilli. That her shirt had melted, Lilli was on fire. Yet they still felt that it was only flash burns and require no surgical interventions.
6 days later, 2nd dressing change and Lilli is readmitted with Partial thickness burns in multiple locations. After the 3rd debridement The Plastic surgery team agree that while some of the burns are doing well and the tissue is pretty and pink, other parts are much deeper and not doing well. She developed 3 major blisters on her chest during this time. This means that Lilli will have to go to the OR for a deeper debridement plus the skin graft to her chin, neck chest and 1 hand. The graft will come from a thigh or thighs depending on how much area will require grafted skin.
After the surgery today, 6/9/23 Lilli will remain in the hospital for no less than 7 days. The hope is that she will be released next Saturday or Sunday, 6/17 or 6/18.
what this means: Alora will remain out of work for an unknown amount of time. Alora will continue to travel to and from home and the hospital daily because Gio can not be cared for by just anyone. Alora will have what could be a 2-hour drive each way, with tolls both ways. All while still taking care of Aidan and Gio. Lilli's step Dad, Joe, works the 3rd shift and has to sleep during the day. Joe has been able to stop at the hospital early Morning to allow Lilli's Grandma to go to the Ronald McDonald house to get a few hours' sleep, before making his way home to switch roles with Alora. Aidan has also been a huge help in helping to take care of Gio during the day after going to school.
Between the trauma of the evening of the 30th, which none of them have yet been able to deal with, they also are having the financial toll of travel, meals being ordered out and all the end-of-school-year events, plus the day-to-day life that doesn't stop because of this.
Then there is Lilli's bedroom Alora nor Joe have had the time to clean, much less repair before Lilli can move back in.
They can use the money for travel, food, wound care supplies, tolls, bills etc.
Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.

update: 6/9/23
Lilli had her surgery today. She came through it without any problems. They had to place a wound vac on her chest and grafted her chin, neck chest and hand.
while Lilli was in surgery the child life staff decorated Lilli's room for her own very special 8th grade prom. So while missed being with her friends tonight she will still have her special dance.
