LILLIAN short film

Spende geschützt
It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.

WHAT IS LILLIAN?
Lillian is a dramatic indie short showing the aftermath of tragedy.

The story follows a young woman named Kari, who after the death of her mother finds that her relationship with her father has been in a steady decline.
Throughout the story she soon discovers that she has to face her inner demons, accept what has happened, and meet her dad in the middle in order to repair that relationship.

The look and feel will be something between LADY BIRD (2017), STARFISH (2019), STRANGER THINGS (2016-), and DARK (2017-), with dim pastels and comforting lights that pop with the grungy locations and shitty weather.

CHARACTERS/CAST
KARI
18, is reeling and broken from her Mother’s death and she can’t get over it. She’s imprisoned in the grief that comes with losing a parent, one she loved very much.

We’ve got Paige Joustra to play Kari. She was the star of the award winning short film ‘Feast On The Young’, as well as ‘Losing it’.

QUAID
around 45, has the echoes of someone who used to rock a stage but now occasionally rocks a shower. He’s been turning to alcoholism, seeing there’s an abyss between his daughter and himself, but he can’t figure out how to reconnect and is worried their relationship  will deteriorate entirely.

We have Dellacoma Rio to play Quaid.

LILLIAN
she was 43. When she was alive she was the glue that kept her family together; always happy. She lingers around Kari, like a lonely kids imaginary friend, just trying to help her family get back on track again.

We have Emma Bournes to play Lillian.

WHY $3000?
Basically all of our pre-production is done, and we're ready to shoot the film, but films are an expensive endeavour, and so is university, and putting the two together makes for a very expensive ride.
I've put aside some money myself, but we're looking for an extra $3000 to mostly pay for actors, but it will also go towards festival fees and possible physical copies (tbc), and overall really make the film shine.

WHY SHOULD I GET TO TELL THIS STORY?
My dad is working all the time and I have to look after my little 5 year old brother.
I’m scared of screwing up.
I’ve also had friends lose family members when they were younger and I've Seen it tear their families apart.
i’d like to show that it can be bad at times but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

When someone dies you either come closer together or tear each other apart; and I want to show the difficulty of just trying to figure that out.

WHO IS THE CREW AND WHY SHOULD I GIVE THEM MY MONEY?
WRITER/DIRECTOR
ZEKE DIXON-KITT
I have been making films since he was 5, and most of them are what you'd expect, but I've really honed my craft in screenwriting and editing these past few years, editing "Velvet", which was an official selection in Monsterfest 2018, as well as a plethora of other things. This film means a lot to me and I hope people will get to see it.

PRODUCERS
PARASKEVAS MOURIKIS
Hey my name is Parry and I am the producer for this film. I always loved film and always had a keen interest. From a young age I’ve always had a massive interest in the arts. I started studying Film in 2018 and have worked on productions such as Wiggle - Huntly (2018), Percy (2019), Sunflowers (2019). Deskmates (2019), Sunday - Jessica Mauboy Music video (2019), Paradox Pizza (2019), Caution (2019) and have a few upcoming projects. I really loved the concept of Lillian from the beginning and am super pleased to be working on it!

JACK GRUNDELL
Jack Grundell is a Geelong based film-maker with aspirations to make his mark in the industry with independent short films. He a has a keen eye for attention to detail, and aims that all of his ideas try something different and push the benchmark for the genre he approaches. His experience ranges from Cinematography to Producer, and everything small in between, using the experience and lessons learned to become a better creator, which also has lead to dabbling in other mediums.

CINEMATOGRAPHER
KYAL JANSZ
My names Kyal and I've loved filmmaking ever since I was shown films at a young age. From there I've taken my passion and transformed it into the art of cinematography.
With love for photography, I pursued cinematography ever since, and I always strive to be a better creative, and a better filmmaker with each amazing crew and projects I have the pleasure to work on.

EDITOR
MIKE BARCA
I first discovered a joy for editing as a kid, when I used to take the toys my parents bought me, break them apart and put them together again with different parts. From there my small group of friends and I began making movies with my uncles camcorder from the 90's.
Later, I rediscovered that passion in the craft of film editing (somewhat unexpectedly) while pursuing an animation degree at SAE Institute. Now, having worked on a number of different films ranging from music videos to documentaries as a film editor, I continue to enjoy the deeply satisfying and transformative process of film making.

PRODUCTION DESIGNER
DANIEL YOUNG
I am a film maker by trade, Production Designer by passion. With a long history of costume and character design, I put in complete effort down to the smallest details, with no object having a reason to be. I hope to complement the emotion of the story with every costume, set, prop and spec of mise en scene.

Thank you so much for reading, and anything you can give would be deeply and wholeheartedly appreciated. Even a share helps us out.
