Message from Liliia:

On February 23rd I received a text from my brother saying, “the war has begun” and my world forever changed. The war that we didn’t think was possible because Ukrainians share roots, religion and traditions with Russians, had started.

My brother and his family spent 10 days under constant shelling before making the tough decision for the family to leave for western Ukraine. Male family members stayed in my hometown, Kharkiv, to help while women and children fled to Europe.

The horror and cruelty of this war breaks my heart every day. Ukrainians are dying for no good reason. My motherland is in crumbles.

Most importantly, all my family members are apart, forced to separate and go in different directions…different countries. Some of them have no home to go back to anymore.

I understand it can be challenging to know where to give and how to contribute. This fund was set up because people have asked me how they can support Ukraine and the people close to my heart.

The pictures you see are mostly of my hometown, Kharkiv, or what is left of it. It’s hard to imagine your hometown in pieces, the buildings you once knew reduced to rubble, and missiles going through the ceiling where you, your friend or your family live. Unfortunately, for me and many Ukrainians, we no longer have to imagine.

Everything donated will go to both my cousin and her children (in picture) from Mariupol who lost their home and to also help the volunteers in Kharkiv that I personally know; my classmates, cousins and friends who work tirelessly to deliver groceries and necessary supplies to vulnerable citizens.

Your donation will not be wasted or spent on anything other than directly helping those affected by this tragedy. It’s been hard, but we will continue to fight for one another.
