Ermias' name means, "God will rise."

This 16-month-old baby boy choked when food was dislodged in his throat. After several lifesaving attempts from his mother Annicia, EMTs, and doctors, they were about to pronounce a time of death when God stepped in and they found a pulse. Because his brain suffered so long without oxygen—over an hour—he was placed on life support. The neurological team's MRI later confirmed that Ermias was brain dead. If and when the second MRI confirms the same findings, he will officially be taken off of life support and a time of death will be announced.
