Hi, my name is Mary and I’m a non binary POC that got approved for top surgery at the beginning of 2021. I’m humbled to write this. I finally have a surgery date, which is 3 months from now and I’m excited to start this new chapter in my life!

Recovery= extra bed rest and due to the physical demand of my job as a bartender, I’ll have to take a significant amount of unpaid time off to properly recover. As a result, I need to cover living expenses for the month of the surgery plus the following month, pay for medical and recovery supplies, combat any last-minute bills and medical expenses, be prepared for possible complications after surgery/ possible prolonged healing due to being immune compromised, and support the people who are setting aside their own time and energy to help me through my recovery. These are just some of the expenses I’m anticipating, and it is vital that I am able to recover without the constant stress of financial limitations that so many of us are used to.
