My wife, Velma and I are following a calling to work with single mothers and their children, as a family. We are called to help those families who feel they have no choice over the circumstances of their lives, feeling trapped to repeat previous outcomes. Families who are seeking to make a change and take back choice. We are creating a space with "Soar Like an Eagle Sanctuary " where families as a whole can become empowered to transform from those strategies they have learned growing up, that may have stagnated or impeded positive growth. A place where they learn and incorporate life affirming strategies, promoting both personal and family growth, while discovering their joy.
So many of us feel as if we do not have control over our lives. We feel that this can be associated with the disconnection with meeting even our own most basic of needs: food/shelter, choice and identity.
We are creating a homestead environment, where the families learn through living. Using mentors and learning groups, families will learn and share skills begining with the basics.
We will incorporate a seed to table concept, empowering the families to produce a healthy, sustainable food source.
Families will learn the skills to build and maintain their own home. We will be using the tiny house model of living. These smaller homes reduce both the demand for resources on the family and the footprint of the family on the environment around them.
