Lightweight Manual Wheelchair for Hannah

Hello Friends,

As you may or may not have known, my health has been acutely declining over the several years since my accident in September 2017. In addition to my pre-existing health conditions, I have developed severe dysautonomia (POTs), orthostatic intolerance, and mobility issues loosing independence in my daily life.

In February 2019, I was blessed with getting Tulip trained as my Medical Alert and Mobility Service Dog. Tulip has been a great companion while dealing with my new health struggles, however, particularly Tulip's Mobility Service Work became limited due to my Service Dog  not growing into her full size (Golden Retriever). With Tulip's mobility tasks being limited, I had to turn to durable medical equipment to aid my daily life activities and continue working my full time job as a Quality Assurance/Auditor.

Being a part-time walker and wheelchair user, although I found it to be embarrassing at first, gave me so much independence without having to ask people for assistance. The use of the wheelchair not only assisted in my daily activities but it also helped keep my heart rate under control. However, I was unable to take advantage of this mobility device (wheelchair) as much as I needed to because transporting/lifting a 35lbs wheelchair and loading into my car aggravated my dysautonomia causing more frequent falls and loss of consciousness.

To maintain an independent life and to prevent driving restrictions (because of dysautonomia/orthostatic intolerance) I am in need of a manual lightweight wheelchair ranging between 15-20lbs to prevent transporting issues and to actually be able to take advantage of it ( I can't use it if I can't load it into my car!)

I've been working with my medical team and the DME Company (Numotion) to begin the process of obtaining the manual lightweight wheelchair by the end of 2020. Unfortunately, my insurance did not cover the cost as much as I expected and I am in need of support. The funds raised will be contributed towards meeting my deductibles and covering the cost of my wheelchair. I would appreciate any donations you could make to help me regain my independence.
