Hello everyone,

 

I’m excited to share my journey and aspirations with you. My name is Sasha, and I have been accepted into the prestigious performing arts program at New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts. This opportunity is a dream come true, but the reality of financing my education at one of the world’s most renowned universities is proving to be a daunting challenge. That’s why I’m reaching out to you for support.

 

Since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by the power of storytelling through words, song, and dance! I started my journey at 2 1/2 years of age, when I began my training in dance. Since then, I’ve spent countless hours learning the art of dance, acting, and singing from so many talented and motivating teachers. I have dedicated myself to perfecting my craft, seeking out every opportunity to learn and grow as a performer, including participating in competitions, musicals, and plays, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. My dedication and hard work, including a multi-round, months long audition process culminating in an in-person audition at Tisch, led to my acceptance into the BFA performing arts program at NYU. It is such an honor to have been accepted into a University, which last year had an acceptance rate of only 8%, and further into a highly competitive BFA program with very limited spots.

 

Attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for a BFA in Performing Arts is an opportunity of a lifetime, but despite being awarded a Talent Scholarship, it comes with a significant financial burden. The cost of tuition, housing in New York City, textbooks, and other expenses is beyond what my family can afford. While I am blessed that they are willing to contribute as much as possible, I am determined to not let financial obstacles stand in the way of my dreams.

With an awarded Tisch Scholarship of just under $10K, the remaining yearly tuition is approximately $82,000, amounting to more than $320,000 for the 4 years.

I have applied and am continuing to apply for grants and scholarships. Additionally I will be using the funds in my college savings account and applying for part time jobs to help offset this heavy burden. My parents have agreed to contribute as much as their means allow.
