Lightning Flowers Paperback Tour!

Donation protected

tl;dr:
If you loved Lightning Flowers, buy me a tank of gas, a hotel room, or a meal to help me reach more readers through upcoming bookstore events!

When the hardcover edition of my book Lightning Flowers debuted on November 10, 2020, it emerged into a world shut down. Though the book enjoyed good publicity--featured in The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, People Magazine, and on NPR's Fresh Air and the goop podcast --in-person book events were impossible. I lined up a virtual bookstore circuit, zoomed into classes, and planned extra online workshops. But nothing replaced the dream I'd had of giving readings in little bookstores, where I could meet audience members one-on-one and sign their books IRL rather than through a bookplate.

Now, with the release of the Lightning Flowers paperback, I'm hitting the road! Not all at once; I've been building a few strings of events (the actual line-up will no doubt keep evolving throughout the fall). But with gas prices raging, publishers unwilling/unable to pay for book tours, and a free stay sometimes disappearing overnight due to COVID, I'd love to have your support in making it possible to reach new readers in-person.

A reader in Alamosa just posted in advance of my appearance at Narrow Gauge Book Co-op in Alamosa: "I’m only halfway through Lightning Flowers, by Katherine Standefer, but I could not wait to post about it. This book is everything I love in non-fiction. Truly."
