Lighting Hope Together: Wells of Life, Wells of Hope

At Lighting Hope Together, we began with a vision to bring solar energy to rural African communities. But after spending more than ten days in Kenya this April and engaging with local tribes, we uncovered a crisis far greater: the desperate need for clean drinking water.

In Kenya, many families walk for miles each day to fetch water from unsafe sources—water that often carries deadly diseases. One scene remains etched in my mind: as we left Illeret, a remote area in northwestern Kenya, a little boy chased after our car, shouting, "Water! Water!" We had run out of bottled water and could only watch helplessly as he disappeared behind us. Moments like this are heartbreaking and urgent reminders of the dire conditions these communities face daily.

This is why we’ve shifted our focus to providing clean water—because without it, life itself is at risk. Together with local churches and tribes, we are raising funds to purchase water drilling equipment and cover the costs of labor to build wells.

Our goal is not just to dig wells but to empower the local community. We plan to purchase and transfer equipment—such as drilling trucks and transport vehicles—into the hands of the local church system in Kenya. We’ll also train technicians and support the creation of a water well drilling company, ensuring a sustainable solution for generations to come.
