Lighthouse Foundation in Jinja, Uganda

My name is Heather, and I am from the US. We are believing for funds to support 30 children who are a part of Lighthouse Foundation. The children have been through very trying times in their lives, starting with the loss or absence of their parents, siblings, or other family members with nowhere to go. These children have been cared for these past 4 years by an amazing lady name Mutesi Phionah. At the age of 22 she started out by helping 4 children in her community in Jinja, Uganda. Mutesi is now 26 years old and has since gained a total of 30 children to care for (10 of them being special needs) in need of love, care, and a future they can prosper in, all with the love of Christ as the center of her mission.

Backstory: Mutesi is incredibly inspiring for taking on this selfless act of love to care for these precious, yet vulnerable children in her community. She became and orphan herself at age 17 and wanted better for these children who were left without their own families and proper care and nourishment and she turns no child away. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed” Proverbs 19:17.

We were able to get Lighthouse Foundation certified in February 2025 as a CBO (community based organization). Registration # JJA/02/2025/001216

5k will allow them to purchase the land you see behind them in the pictures I shared and have a permanent place to call home. Rent is their biggest struggle to pay. They rent 5 rooms currently.
