Lightening the Load for Ross + Chantel

Donation protected

Hi family and friends! We have set up this go fund me to support Ross + Chantel through this period of healing. Ross hasn’t asked for help in this way but I know many of you feel impacted by this and want to help do something that would truly make a difference for them. We all know the loving, generous and resilient humans they both are and this is our chance to show up for them!

Though we are grateful this wasn’t worse...it could have been so much more so...here is what’s happened (told with Ross’ consent): On February 15th, Ross was celebrating his 32nd birthday with family and friends at a local arcade bar in Edmonton. There were a group of men causing problems throughout the night and on his way out, one of them blind sided Ross (unprovoked) with a hit to the face so hard that it broke his jaw in several places and knocked him backwards. As he fell, he hit his head hard on the bar and was knocked unconscious. He had surgery the next day to set his jaw and it was wired shut. He was also confirmed to have a pretty severe concussion. He’s healing but it is an incredibly trying time. The symptoms of the concussion leave him nauseous and he’s only able to ingest whatever he can get through a syringe into his mouth. If you can imagine feeling like you may throw up, while having your teeth held shut..you can imagine the kind of anxiety this induces.  Ross has had a long standing battle with anxiety prior to this and what’s happened has worsened his experience of it. The symptoms, his pain and the mental struggle involved in this will improve a little each day. If we can all band together and hold them up with some love in the monetary form, I think it will ease so much stress for them!

Ross will likely be unable to work for 6 weeks. Being that he is the main income earner for their family, this has really effected them. Unfortunately, all the mortgage insurance and health benefits don’t cover lost wages in this circumstance. There may be medical EI or financial retribution coming if the man that hit him is charged, but that is far down the road and doesn’t help them to pay the bills in the interim. Savings will be depleted pretty quickly.  Being able to lift the strain for a few months, financially, can only help him to heal faster. Thank you!
