Light up Lives: Solar Panels for a Well in Yemen

Hi, my name is Amena Hussain and I'm raising funds to support the installation of Solar Panels for a water well in Yemen.

Imagine a village where families walk miles under the scorching sun to fetch water, a basic necessity that many of us take for granted.

This is the reality for the residents of a remote village near Zaydah, Lahj, in Yemen. Home to approximately 550 families and two mosques. This village currently has no electricity and no running water.

The villagers depend on limited water deliveries from local communities, a temporary and challenging solution, who are themselves often struggling to get enough clean water.

A project, initiated in March 2024 by a group of dedicated individuals, has made significant progress. The well is now 70% complete, but it will stand idle without solar panels needed to operate it. With these panels, the well will provide a sustainable water source right in the heart of the village, transforming daily life for these families.

We need your help to raise £2800 to fund the purchase and installation of these solar panels. Your generous donation will not only bring water to those in need but also offer a lasting source of Sadaqah Jariyah.

Our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us that the BEST and most POWERFUL form of charity is providing water.

About Us: Doers of Good (1208516) is a grassroots project based in Aden, Yemen which supports vulnerable families that have been affected by war, poverty, destruction, and displacement. These families have no source of income and depend heavily on aid. They live in famine like conditions. All our distributions are published on social media (see doersofgood_yemen ) or via private message on Whatsapp for those who have dealt with us directly. This makes us accountable so that you can see we are delivering on our projects.

The new water system will benefit both the existing residents in the area and the local communities who support this town.
