Anganza Masomo - Light up Education

*Anganza Masomo means "Light-up Education" in Kiswahili

Most households in Kisumu County and Nandi County of Kenya do not have access to electricity. Children do their homework with kerosene lamps, which are explosive and produce toxic gases. 

Anganza Masomo project brings ​ clean solar lights to 293 children in Kipngelel & Ogen Primary schools of the two counties. ​ The solar light will not only enable kids to do their homework but also encourage them to stay in school.

Our project team works directly with the communities, schools, and parents to make sure high-quality solar lights are delivered to children, and maintenance/replacement to be provided as needed.

Each €27 brings safe lighting to a child for many years to come.

Project detail:

Solar lights are given to and managed by Kipngelel & Ogen Primary schools.

The local project team works closely with parents, the schools, and the two communities to make sure that children benefit from clean and high-quality lighting for their study.

The solar light product used for this campaign is dlight S500. The product is sold by local vendors with a two-year warranty.

Anganza Masomo project is created by members of We@Voltalia, Martin ONYUOLMAGUNDHO, Linh BLANNING, James KIGOMO, Precious AGUELE, and  Adams KOGO.

We@Voltalia is the Voltalia Employees' Association, which has been created and run by employees of Voltalia since 2018.
It is a community where Voltalians work together to turn ideas into impactful and meaningful social projects.
