Celebrate Independence Day Over Almshouse Creek!

This year’s celebration is especially significant as we honor the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. As our nation marks this historic milestone, we invite our community to come together for an unforgettable evening of patriotism, remembrance, and celebration over the waters of Almshouse Creek.

For years, our community has gathered along the shores of Almshouse Creek to enjoy a spectacular Independence Day aerial display—a cherished tradition that brings friends, families, and neighbors together in celebration of our nation’s birthday.

What began as a modest neighborhood event has grown into one of the most anticipated traditions of the summer. Each year, attendance increases, the show becomes more impressive, and the memories created become even more meaningful.

As the event has grown, so have the costs. Producing this professional-grade aerial display now exceeds $20,000 annually. Historically, 3 local families have covered the majority of the expense, with additional support from generous community members. While we remain committed to continuing this tradition, we can no longer sustain or expand it without broader community involvement.

Safety and Compliance

Please know that this event is conducted in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Each year, we obtain permits from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard, while adhering to all U.S. Department of Transportation requirements for transportation and handling. On the day of the event, the Maryland State Fire Marshal conducts an on-site inspection to ensure everything is properly prepared and safe for launch.

This celebration requires countless hours of planning, coordination, and volunteer effort—but it also requires funding. Your support helps make it all possible.
