A teacher’s day doesn’t end when the last bell rings.
It continues in the planning, the problem-solving, and the care that happens long after students go home. Teaching is meaningful work, and it is also demanding work. For many educators in Southern Arizona, that demand can quietly turn into burnout, and too often, into isolation.
At Tucson Values Teachers (TVT), we’ve spent years listening to educators across our region. We hear consistent themes:
- Burnout from constant demands and too little recovery time
- Isolation when collaboration and support are hard to access
- Limited mentorship for teachers who need guidance
- Time pressure and a shortage of practical, trusted resources
Lumia is how we show up for teachers every day
Lumia is TVT’s new digital platform designed by teachers for teachers to provide support beyond one-time programs and events. It meets educators where they are, with tools that strengthen connection, confidence, and retention in the profession.
Lumia helps by creating a free, consistent, and welcoming space for community and growth:
- A Discover feed that showcases classroom-tested practical tools
- Direct messaging so teachers can reach out, ask questions, and feel less alone
- 1-on-1 mentorship Matchups to support teachers and strengthen retention
- Specialized groups where educators can connect by grade level, subject area, or shared experiences
Lumia is always free to teachers and currently serves seven counties in Arizona: Pima, Pinal, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham, Greenlee, and Yuma
This is not about adding “one more thing” to a teacher’s plate. It’s about making it simpler to find a mentor, ask a quick question, share what works, and remember they are part of a larger community that values them.
