Kilrush Rugby Club is proudly run by volunteers and supported by our local community. Over the past number of years we have been steadily developing our facilities at Monmore to create a better, safer and more welcoming environment - not just for rugby, but for the wider community of West Clare.

A key part of this development is our new all-weather walking track and community walkway at Kilrush RFC. This facility is designed to be used year-round by walkers, runners, families, club members and anyone in the local community looking for a safe outdoor space. Our aim is to open our gates beyond the rugby community, welcome new faces, and encourage greater use of our facilities by the wider public.

What we’ve completed so far

With the help of grant funding, fundraising and countless volunteer hours, we have already delivered:

  • Major pitch drainage works
  • Construction of a new “all weather” walking track and community walkway
  • Kerbing and edging around new pathways
  • A gravelled car park improving access to the grounds
  • Relocation of our club shop to a more suitable location
  • A new concrete surface outside the shop area

These works have transformed the grounds at Kilrush RFC. We’ve included some photos of the progress to date - but even better, we’d encourage anyone who’s curious to come up to Monmore and take a look in person.

Our next phase - lighting the walkway

The next and final step in completing the walkway project is the installation of permanent lighting. This will allow safe use of the all-weather walkway throughout the year, particularly during the darker winter evenings.

This has been a huge project for our club and we have incurred significant costs. This GoFundMe is being launched to supplement our grant funding and help us complete the walkway works without delay.

Buy a Light - optional sponsorship

As part of this GoFundMe, supporters also have the option to Buy a Light.

“Sponsor a walkway light for €250”

  • Your chosen name (individual, family or business) will be included on a large permanent recognition sign at the club.

  • To do this via GoFundME, select €250 and include the name you’d like displayed in the donation message.

  • Light can also be sponsored directly by contacting David Smith.

Please note: all donations are very welcome, big or small. Buying a light is entirely optional - every contribution helps us move this project forward.

Looking ahead

Once the walkway project is completed, our next development phases include:

  • Pitch floodlighting
  • Clubhouse improvements
  • A small club, building steadily

We are a small rural club, and development at this scale happens through slow and steady progress, careful planning and strong community support. Every euro raised through this campaign goes directly back into improving facilities for current members, future players and the wider West Clare community.

Thank you for supporting Kilrush RFC - whether by donating, sharing the page, or calling up to see the progress for yourself.
