Hello Facebook
My Name Is William Alcantara. I Was Born October 10th 1977. Am Currently 41 Years Of Age. I Was Raised In New York City Upper West Side Of Manhattan 108th Street Between Amsterdam n Broadway To Be Exact. I Used To Work For Homeland Security. I Worked There For About 13 Years Right In 26 Federal Plaza And For The Last 10 Years Of My Life, I’ve Been Struggling To Live A Healthier Life And To Better Myself But It Hasn’t Been That Easy. For The Simple Fact That I Have Renal Failure (Kidney Decease) Hypertension. I Was Diagnosed With Hypertension At The Age Of 31. Being The Youngest Patient R.I.P (Doctor Jones) My Kidney Doctor Had At The Time I Wasn’t Ready For The Severe Roller Coaster Ride I Was About To Embark On. With No Knowledge Of What DYALISIS Was And How It Worked It Was Definitely A Surprise Test I Didn’t Study Or Wasn’t Ready For. Since My First Health Issue Encounter My Life Took A Drastic Change For The Worse. Beginning With A Mild Stroke, A Blur Spot In My Left Eye Along With A Vein Leaking In My Brain. All This While Going Through DYALISIS. My Second Encounter Was About 2 Years After The Mild Stroke Which Was Open Heart Surgery. I Had A Micro Valve Replacement. Due To The Type Of Procedure I Had It Requires Me To Be On Blood Thinner Medicine For The Rest Of My Life. About A Year And A Half After I Had The Open Heart Surgery I Was In Treatment One Day And I Suddenly Started To Feel My Heart Beating Extremely Fast And Just Like That In A Blink Of A Eye I Couldn’t Breathe. As I Sat There Helpless I Started To Get Nervous Extremely Sweating Not Knowing What To Do I Flagged Down One Of The DYALISIS Techs As He Looked At My Face It Made Me More Nervous By The Way He Quickly Reacted When He Looked At Me. Luckily The Staff At My DYALISIS Clinic Were Well Trained And Were Able To Save My Life After 24 Hours In The Hospitable I Came To Find Out I Had A Blood Clot By My Lungs Which Almost Killed Me. If That Situation Would Had Happened To Me In My Home Or Any Where Else I Wouldn’t Be Alive Today. I Barely Made It. About Another 2 Years After That Again While On DYALISIS I Had Caught An infection In My Blood Which Caused Me Severe Pain In My Right Leg Every time I Tried To Walk. After A Couple Of Hospital Visits A Few X-rays And A Couple Of MRI’s Later I Was Told My Spinal Cord Was Detached. Basically The Infection In My Blood Was Deteriorating My Spinal Cord. As Soon As I Received The Bad News I Was Scheduled To Get Surgery A Week After I Found Out What Was Going On With Me. So To Make Along Story Short I Ended Up Getting 4 Screws In My Lower Back With A Hydraulic Cage To Hold My Spinal Cord Together. Exactly A Year Later When I Was Starting To Feel Better And Like Myself Again I Had Another Encounter. My Access For DYALISIS Had Got Messed Up Due To The Fact One Of The Techs In My Clinic Stuck The Needle In The Wrong Place And Caused My Access To Bleed Nonstop And Not Work Properly For Me To Dialyze. The Result Of That Required Me To Go To The Hospital And Get A Lumbar Catheter Which was supposed To Be Placed In My Back. This Is When My Life Got Seriously Bad. It Was June 1st 2016 Around 10:30 In The Morning My Appointment Was In Roosevelt Hospital I Get There Every Thing Is Ok They Call Me In As They Proceed With They Procedure Which Normally Takes About 15 To 20 Mins This One Lasted About An Hour. Once Done They Put Me In The Recovery Room As I Laid There Resting I Suddenly Get This Severe Pain In My Stomach I Immediately Tell The Nurse My Stomach Hurts My Stomach Hurts It’s Hurting Really Bad. At This Point Am Crying Praying Hoping The Pain Goes Away. Unaware And Unsure The Doctors Don’t Understand Why Am Having So Much Pain So They Give Me Some Pain Medication. Threw Out This Awful Situation I Happen To Bump Into My Neurologist Doctor Who I Was Supposed To See A Few Days Later To Place A New (Fistula) Access In My Right Arm For Me To Use For DYALISIS. When I See My Doctor He Looked At Me And Suddenly Seen There Was Something Wrong With Me. So I Tell Him Doctor Venvaniski Am In A lot Of Pain. So He Gave Me This Look I Would Never Forget It’s Like God Answered My Call For Help. He Quickly Order A Stomach And Back X-ray For Me. As Soon As He Got The Results He Told Me You Got Some Type Of Green Fluid Leaking Out Your Stomach Confused And Lost I Keep Telling Him Am In Pain Am In Pain So After Further Testing I Come To Find Out My Small Intestine Got Punctured. It Was So Bad And Rapidly Getting Worse That When They Found Out What Was Happening To Me Originally I Was Supposed To Get Surgery About A Week Later. All I Remember Is The Surgent Coming To See Me Around 7:30 pm And Telling Me We Need To Act Aggressively Meaning I Had To Get Surgery Right Now Or Am Not Going To Make It. Another Long Story Short I Had To Get An Emergency Bypass Surgery To Survive. They Had To Slice My Stomach Open Cut The Piece Of My Stomach That Got Punctured Out And Re Stitch It With The Part Of My Stomach That Was Good. On Top Of The Pain And Everything I Had Going On I Was Placed In ICU For About 3 Weeks n A Half. Couldn’t Eat Or Drink Anything For The Whole Time I Was In ICU. When I Tell You That Was One Of My Worse Medical Experiences I Ever Went Through. I Had To Sit In Bed With A Long Tube That Was Placed In Threw My Nose And Stretched Down To My Stomach. Connected To A Suction Sucking Every Lil Bit Of Whatever I Had In My Stomach Out. Never Had I Ever Been Threw This Kind Of Pain And Suffering. I Didn’t End Up Leaving The Hospital Till July 7th. A Month And A Week Later. And To Make Things Worse A Catheter Was Placed In My Right Leg Causing Me To Develop Nerve Damage And Weakness In My Right Leg. Basically Bringing Me Back To Square One. I Ended Up Inheriting All The Pain I Had From Before In My Lower Back, My Legs,. My Cavs Before The Back Surgery.
Keep In Mind While Am Going Through All This Mayhem Am Still Doing DYALISIS 3 Times A Week. My Treatment Time Is 3 Hours And 45 Minutes. Without Time To Heal Or Just Relax I Have To Keep On Going Searching And Pushing My Self To Never Give Up. Off Course It Didn’t Stop There. About A Year And A Half Ago I Fell Down Twice. Developing Severe Pain In My Left Leg Now By My Pelvis To The Point Where I Cannot Walk Again. So Now My Pain Is Running Down My Legs Both Of Them. In The Course Of All This I Went 2 Different Hospital’s. I Explained To Them My Situation And The Hospitals Keep Telling Me I Had A Pinched Nerve That I Had Sciatica Nerv Pain. I Couldn't Get A Straight Answer. Stressed Out Of My Mind Pain Driven Day To Day Even When I Try To Sleep The Pain Always Gets The Best Of Me. It Took For Another Unfortunate Encounter For Me To Finally Find Out Why Am I In So Much Pain And Why I Can’t Walk Mind You Since I Fell I’ve Been Using Crutches For About A Year And A Few Months Now To Get Around It Wasn't Until April 12th 2019 After Coming Home From DYALISIS Right In Front Of My Building I Took A Nasty Fall Long Story Short I Broke My Arm. While I Was In The ER The Doctors Ran A Few Testes On Me. Only To Find Out Why I Couldn’t Walk And Had So Much Pain In My Lower Back And Legs. The Doctor Walks In And Tells Me I Have A Broken Hip. I Have A Fracture On Both Sides Of My Hip With Broken Bones I Was Like Wowwwww That Actually Makes A Lot More Sense To Me As Far As Why I Can’t Walk And The Pain I Have To Deal With Day In Day Out. The Doctor Also Mentioned To Me That I Had A Broken Collar Bone As Well. I Was So messed Up In The Head, I Was Asking GOD Why Me? What Did I Do To Deserve This. I’ve Always Been A Good Person Humble Honest Trustworthy
I’ve Always Help People Out. I Was Always Doing For Others Before I Did For Me. As Far As My Bones Being So Fragile To The Point Where They Break Easily Is Because DYALISIS Eats Your Bones And Makes Them Weaker The Longer You Dialyze,. Next December Makes 11 Years Of Me Being On DYALISIS. It Is So Much More Stuff That I’ve Been Through. If You Tally Up All My Hospital Visits It Will Easily Equal Out To About 12 Months Maybe A Lil Bit More. I Mean Right Now Am In The Jewish Nursing Home Been Here Over A Month. Actually I Haven’t Been Home Since April 12 2019 Today’s Date Is June 20th 2019. I Went From St.Lukes Hospital To Mount Sinai In The East Side Where I Got Surgery For My Arm Got 6 Screws In My Arm From There To Roosevelt Hospital On 59th Street Then From There To The Jewish Nursing Home To Finish Doing Therapy. The Reason I Decided To Start A Go Fund Me Fundraiser Is To Help Me Out As Far As Paying For Certain Medications My Insurance Doesn’t Cover To Help Me With Transportation Cost Getting Back n Forth From My Doctor Appointments To DYALISIS And Even Having To Make A Co Payment On Some Procedures My Insurance Doesn't Fully Cover. It’s Very Hard For Me Because Am On Disability And I Could Only Do But So Much So God Willing With A Lil Bit Of Financial Help From Close Friends And Family It Could Really Help Me In The Long Run Because Am Doing All I Can On My Own And It’s Really Not Much I Can Do. So I Just Really Want To Thank Anybody And Everybody That Takes The Time Out To Read My Story And Decide To Help Me By Reaching My Set Goal. Again THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT WHETHER REACHING OUT FOR SUPPORT OR DONATING TO MY CAUSE THANK YOU ALL GOD BLESS
