Light for Juan: Fund His Lifesaving Cancer Treatments
Donation protected
Juan Serrano is an extraordinary man, and at just 35 years old, he has faced more challenges than most will in a lifetime. Born in Puerto Rico, Juan moved to the U.S. at just 3 years old and was raised in the Bronx, NY. His infectious energy and dedication to helping others made a lasting impact. He became deeply involved with his church and youth center, mentoring and supporting countless people in his community.
In his early adult years, Juan moved to Arizona, where he became known for his warm spirit and those famous “Big Juan” hugs. Whether he was sharing his passion for travel through World Ventures or handing out meals to those in need, Juan always spread joy. His love for life and genuine selflessness touched everyone he met.
But in 2020, at the age of 32, Juan faced a devastating diagnosis—colon cancer. After months of intense pain and not being able to eat, Juan flew back to the east coast and was rushed to the hospital for an emergency colon resection. Six months of grueling chemotherapy followed, but Juan’s unwavering positivity never faltered, and he went into remission.
In March of 2023, however, Juan’s world was brought to a halt once again. The cancer returned, this time more aggressive—Stage 4, spreading to his liver and abdomen. Over the past year and a half, Juan has endured more than 30 rounds of chemo. While some tumors have shrunk, new ones have appeared and progressed. The latest chemo drug has left Juan struggling with severe fatigue, unbearable pain, and a loss of appetite that caused him to lose 20 pounds in just one month. Unfortunately, surgery and other conventional therapies are not an option at this time.
Despite everything, Juan continues to fight with the same courage and resilience that defines him. He has turned to integrative medicine, combining traditional chemo with holistic therapies designed to restore balance and heal his body. These treatments have brought Juan much-needed relief where conventional medicine has fallen short. But because these therapies are not covered by insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming.
As Juan’s wife, I have seen firsthand how selflessly he gives to others. I’ve watched him literally give the shirt off his back, offer our dinner to a homeless man, and scramble for change to buy a stranger a bottle of water. That’s just who Juan is—someone who gives, no matter how much or how little he has. Now, I’m asking for your help to give back to Juan.
If you’ve been touched by Juan’s light and kindness, this is your chance to return that gift. If all 1,600 of Juan’s Facebook friends donated just $35, we could give Juan the treatments and hope he so desperately needs. These funds will allow Juan to begin an intensive 8 week treatment program designed to shrink his tumors and help his body heal itself while improving his overall quality of life. Juan will spend 5 days per week in clinic receiving a variety of treatments such as high dose IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, full body hyperthermia, PEMF therapy, ozone therapy, massage therapy, lymph drainage, and specialty acupuncture. He will also follow an at-home protocol of injections, supplements and other therapies. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
We’ve exhausted our savings and have done everything we can to afford these treatments, but we simply can’t do it alone. Insurance won’t cover any of these costs, and we’ve reached a point where we have to ask for your support.
And if you’re unable to donate, please share this story with someone who can. Juan has given so much to others—let’s come together to give him the chance to heal and reclaim his health.
