Let's revive this great Waldorf school!
I'm supporting a great little Waldorf school in Guatemala that, due to COVID-19 - and now a terrible landslide - had to cut teaching staff and close indefinitely. The kids are devastated. Join me - I'll match your donation!
Dear friends,
Perhaps you’ll recall that I lived in Guatemala in 2012 & volunteered for a little Waldorf school there. This incredible school has been transforming a poor Indigenous Mayan community, where few children go further than grade 6.
But COVID-19 has taken everything from Guatemala. There is little access to health care & the economy is in shambles. The school cancelled teacher training & laid off teachers to try to survive until the school can reopen, hopefully in the new year.
Together we can easily turn this into a positive
With the school, I created a 4 month training program to re-employ teachers that were cut. This is deepening their skills in math, grammar, art, music, Study of Man and child development. A new teacher is being trained, and parents are learning to create a culture of learning in their homes. Together, they will lead the children through this crisis, toward learning and opportunity again.
Join me in supporting a school that changes lives (including mine!)
I’ve taken legal & financial steps so we can securely send our donations directly to the school. Every dollar is spent properly on COVID-19-safe, quality training, so that the students will resume an excellent education. Join me & I’ll report back to you exactly how you’re helping lift up this wonderful Waldorf school for the long term.
I'll match your donation of any size - $10, $50, $250 or more
If we surpass our goal, I’ll ensure the additional funds have a lasting impact on the children.
Please help me lift up these children & their teachers. Donate today.
Many thanks,
Ryan Lindsay

UPDATE, October 9th:
Earlier this week, the community where the school is located, experienced a giant rockslide that plowed countless houses, burying them and their inhabitants in mud. At least 4 people have died and 10 wounded. Some families are still missing. Electricity is out, numerous building are destroyed & 100's of people and homes remain at risk from the destabilization. [See photos from the local news .]
The school is offering refuge to nearby families in need, so, in addition to funding the training program, I will help provide emergency supplies during the recovery. Contributions of $25 or $50 will go a long way, especially when I match your donation.
