Lifting Up Syd and Family in Their Time of Need

I am just one of the many collected and chosen family members of the McGhehey Wallace Clan. Leslie and Kelly have invited so many of us to be embraced in the joys of raising and celebrating their family unit. Heck, some of us got to witness their kids being born, shared in family dinners, yard parties, trick-or-treating together, graduations, lesbian revivals, game nights, and the list goes on.

Well, my friends, my godchild, who I witnessed coming into this world, Sydney McGhehey Wallace is experiencing a health crisis and has been hospitalized as they are working on diagnosis and treatment of a lung issue. Kelly and Leslie both flew out to Chicago to be present with Syd, and they are devising a way to have at least one of them there at all times.

Syd's health issues have been affecting her quality of life and her ability to work for the past 6-7 weeks. She has been in the hospital since Sunday, April 12th, and has been undergoing tests as they are ruling out a lot of possible diagnoses but have not yet zeroed in on the correct diagnosis.

Kelly and Leslie resisted when I approached them to start a GoFundMe for them. Syd is stressed because she can't work, and Kelly and Leslie are, of course, going to worry about their lost wages later. I looked up online what the average cost of this type of hospitalization can incur on a family in medical crisis, and it listed $26,000 to $36,000 depending on how long the stay, diagnosis, and prognosis.

I would just like to take away the financial stress that this hospitalization has created for my dear friends and chosen family. My hope is to crowd fund a little ease of mind for Kelly, Leslie, and Syd (and you too, Kaden) so that they can work on the most important thing... helping Syd recover and get back to her fabulous life that she has created in Chicago.

I am setting a goal of $36,000. No donation is too small. Please share this GoFundMe broadly. I am hoping that this sweet little village can lift the economic burden experienced when a loved one is ill.
