Update 11/20
First off, thank you SO much for all of the donations, kind thoughts and well wishes for the family at this time. It has been wonderful to see the generosity of everyone shine through in this difficult time - it means the world to all of us who are so close to Ben and Erin.
Second, because of the amazing donation support from all of you, the family feels they now have enough to cover estimated short-term expenses. Because of this, they have requested that we turn our attention to helping others. With that said, all future donations from this point will go directly to assisting others in the community who have been affected start to recover from this tragedy. Several close friends of Ben and Erin's have lost a substantial amount - some even have lost everything - and they are eager to lend a helping hand as these families look to start over.
Lastly, a note directly from Ben and Erin
First of all, I would like to thank all of you for the generosity you have shown to our family during this difficult time. Our sincerest heartfelt thanks to all of you for giving not only financially, but thoughts, prayers, and conversation—they have helped support us since the fire broke out on the 8th. We also owe an incredible debt to the firefighters and first responders who worked tirelessly to protect the lives and homes of everyone on the upper Ridge. It was through these efforts that they were able to stop the fire short of our neighborhood and save hundreds of houses and countless lives. We have all of our immediate needs met, and will continue to keep you updated in the coming days and weeks as the situation progresses. Thank you again to you all, and please continue to keep Paradise, Magalia, and the affected communities in your thoughts and prayers.
Blessings,
The Einhaus family
One of the families affected by the Camp Fire tragedy in Northern California is my Brother (Ben), sister-in-law (Erin) and their three kids (Joshua, Finley and Maddie), who have called the city of Magalia home for 4 years. While they were able to safely evacuate, they are now facing the harsh reality of extreme uncertainty that comes with re-building their lives and the lives of their friends and fellow community members.
This is a fund to support the Einhaus family and their fellow community members in rebuilding their lives in the coming months. I'm starting with a goal of $10,000 to help assist them in returning to some sense of normalcy, as well as covering immediate short-term costs. These costs include:
-Increased rent (the family has to find a new home and rental rates are skyrocketing with heavy demand from displaced families)
-Gas (currently driving 3 hours round-trip to maintain work schedules)
-Replacement of family possessions
-Assisting friends in their community
100% of funds donated, minus GoFundMe fees, will be sent to aid my brother's family and their friends in the community. I've never done a fundraiser like this, but I promise I will openly communicate updates on their family and the community to share how these funds are being dispersed and providing relief.
